FAQ
- May I enter multiple submissions?
Yes, but you will need to fill out the form each time you submit a new piece of writing. - Is my work guaranteed to be published?
No, not all submissions will be accepted for publication. Writing quality must be conventional (grammar, spelling, punctuation), and content must be appropriate for school age children to read. DBYP reserves the right to choose which compositions will and will not be published in the Anthology. DBYP will do a blind review (judges will not know the name of the contributor) of submissions before accepting them for publication. - If I’m a minor under 18 years old, do I need parent/guardian permission to publish?
Yes. You will need to provide a parent/guardian email for us to contact for permission to publish your writing. We cannot publish your writing without a permission from a parent/guardian if you are under 18. - If I’m over 18 years old, do I need parent permission to publish?
No. You can list yourself as the parent/guardian contact, but please carefully read the permissions you are agreeing to below. - How can I purchase this DBYP Kiwanis Anthology when it is published?
It will be available on Amazon as a Kindle ebook and in physical print-on-demand books. You will purchase this from Amazon, and all sales of this publication will go towards Kiwanis charity, scholarships, and community service work. - When will the DBYP Kiwanis Anthology be published?
The Anthology is scheduled to be published annually in September to coincide with our annual STEAM Fair. - When is the deadline for submission?
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. Publication in the anthology will be on a first-come first-served basis and upon being chosen and approved by DBYP. Submit as soon as possible. If your writing is accepted for publication, but there is no more room for it in the current edition, it may be saved for a future publication. - Will my writing be edited after submission?
DBYP and our team of editors will make minor changes (cleaning up typos and small grammar mistakes). We also reserve the right to edit any content we deem inappropriate for our family friendly publication. Be reminded that any writing that is too unconventional or inappropriate, or plagiarizes will not be considered for publication. - If I publish my writing in this Anthology, am I allowed to publish or submit my writing elsewhere?
Yes, you grant us non-exclusive use to publish your writing, which means you still retain the copyright but give us permission to publish your writing. - What are the benefits of publishing in this Anthology?
Aside from all the good community work that Kiwanis will do with this fundraiser, you will be sharing your writing with others as a published author and developing yourself as a writer, all worthwhile benefits. You will also be able to add this publication to your college applications or resumes as an accomplishment or activity. - How will I know that my work has been accepted for publication in the Anthology?
We will notify you when your work has been accepted for publication.
